Examples use round, illustrative numbers, not client data.
Finding the data, running the analysis and the back-and-forth.
The rest still go to your GIS team, as today.
Other costs today (optional)
If you pay a cloud AI service for this work today. Orion runs on your own hardware: no token costs.
External bureaus or consultants. Counted as Orion taking on the same share of it as of your own questions.
You save
–
a year on your own costs: staff time, cloud AI and outsourced work. This is not a price; Orion’s licence is not part of it.

How it’s counted: a question Orion answers takes about five minutes of staff time to read and check; the others take the same time as today. Orion replaces cloud AI costs for this work and takes on the same share of outsourced work as of your own questions. Full-time staff are counted at 1,500 productive hours a year. Orion’s own licence is not included; ask us for a pilot quote.
Three ways to answer a GIS question
| What matters | Ticket to the GIS team | Cloud AI assistant | Orion GeoAI |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time to an answer | Days to weeks | Minutes | Minutes |
| Cost per question | Analyst hours, every time | Tokens or seats; grows with use | None; a fixed licence |
| Where your data goes | Stays inside | To the provider’s cloud | Stays on your servers |
| Checked against your data | By the analyst | Not built to check your registers | More than 30 checks, or an honest “I can’t” |
| Shows how it got there | Depends on the analyst | Rarely | Datasets, plan and query, every time |
| When the expert leaves | The knowledge leaves too | It stays with the provider | It stays in your organisation |
| Lock-in | — | Tied to the provider’s cloud and prices | None; open-weight models on your hardware |
